We engaged in a fairly vigorous farmer’s market shop on Saturday, and since we are leaving on Wednesday for 10 days, we were left with a dinner that cleaned out some produce: beets and persimmons. It sounds like a strange combination, and I was very surprised when after I Googled “beet and persimmon salad” I found THIS! It was pretty darn good. The only thing I really modified were substituting our own salad greens for the spinach: the wet, cold weather is coming and they aren’t going to last much longer. The most disappointing part of our dinner was the baguette. It was from the Migros and looked and felt great from the outside, but had the texture of Wonder bread on the inside…Wonder bread has a place, just not in a baguette! One would think the bread everywhere here would be amazing, clearly not.
